Coping with Difficult Emotions
Approaches, Tools, and Techniques
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)— Together with my clients, I work to increase awareness of thought patterns and explore how they influence behavior and emotions.
Exposure Therapy— We develop a hierarchy of events for you to gradually face distressing situations, helping the brain and body learn that they are safe.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)—Learn skills like mindfulness, managing strong emotions, and handling difficult situations to help you cope better.
Habit Building—We work together to develop ways to organize tasks, manage time, and build habits that create organizational systems tailored to how your brain works.
Art Therapy— Visual prompts are used to support you in understanding and applying therapeutic techniques.
What to expect in Therapy
In the first few sessions, we’ll talk about your goals and create a treatment plan that fits you. I like to use visual aids to help with setting goals and to better understand where you are with your current concerns.
From there, we’ll work together using different therapy techniques and strategies, and figure out ways to overcome any challenges that come up.
As you start feeling more confident, we’ll slowly reduce the number of sessions. When we both feel you’re ready, we’ll have a final session to wrap things up and come up with a mental health maintenance plan that works for you moving forward.
Everyone’s treatment plan, how often we meet, and length of treatment are different — it’s all about what works best for you.
Empowering, Inclusive Therapy with Trauma-Informed Support
No matter where you’re starting from, you deserve support that feels safe, respectful, and encouraging. I want to understand your journey — the experiences that shaped you, the identity you hold, and what you care about most.
I strive to create a space that honors who you are, where you come from, and what matters most to you. I want you to feel fully accepted for who you are and empowered to make the changes that feel right for your life.
